At a recent council meeting Adam Montgomery said that the only option to fix the secondary schools problem in Penicuik would be to create a new single site school.
Adam Montgomery said that despite the new houses planned for Mauricewood an extra 500 houses would have to be built to compensate for Penicuik High School’s dangerously low pupil roles. He continued to say that we now must look towards extending a current school or creating a new campus. Adam also said that the proposal had been put to both head teachers.
This comes after a previous spilt site merger was consulted on and was turned down. The public also opposed the idea of a single site school and preferred the idea of changing catchment areas.
