Penicuik High School’s new term will commence on 21 August, despite a fire to the rear of the B listed building.
A fire which broke out in the grounds of Penicuik’s oldest secondary school has failed to deter management from reopening the school on the predetermined date of 21 August.
Firefighters were dispatched on Saturday 10 August after 999 calls were made around 5:20pm.
Crews from Sighthill, Liberton and Dalkeith attended and quickly extinguished the fire before it affected any of three storey building.
As such the opening date has not been changed.
All Midlothian Council schools are set to return for the new school year on Wednesday 21 August with teachers returning shortly beforehand for training and preparatory works.
