Ssh…

Penicuik’s local art’s association are planning to take the town by storm to celebrate National Craft Bomb and Voluntary Arts Week.

The PCAA are calling for volunteers to help colourise the town through bunting, knitting and crocheting.

The worldwide phenomenon will catch residents by surprise during the week of the 11th of May. Their plans involve knitting around objects using colourful yarns as well as hanging colourful flags and placing handmade objects in prominent places.

It is believed that most pieces of ‘artwork’ will appear overnight to continue the suspense as to when and where the Craft Bombing will take place. For that reason we have only been given a week and not a set date. If you wish to be part of this great secret, you are to contact Mary at the PCAA (details at end) or join the private group on Facebook.

Donations are also being sought of any unwanted yarns and fabrics to help make the project possible. These should be dropped of at West Street Art Centre.

Drop in days are also being held there every Thursday 4pm to 5:30pm as well as selected Saturdays 11:30am to 1:30pm. Larger events will occur in Penicuik Town Hall on April 6 and 27 and May 4.

Contact Mary on 0791 789 0466 or by email at PCAA@penicuikarts.org. Alternatively join the group on Facebook.
