Misery is expected for commuters as major resurfacing works get underway in Penicuik.
The works which commenced on Wednesday 12 June have closed a significant part of west Penicuik’s road network.
Public transport routes have been altered after Midlothian Council commenced a seven week long resurfacing project on a stretch of road connecting Deanburn (Queensway) and Cuiken (Rullion Road). Motorists are being advised of delays as diversions come into force to try and manage the expected congestion. Passengers of Lothian’s 37 bus service are also warned of changes to the bus stops at which they can get on a bus. As part of a diversion, the 37 will now follow a one way system through Carlops Road onto Cuiken Terrace before joining Rullion Road and heading south and merging with the previous route at Bog Road. However the buses will not stop along Carlops Road or Cuiken Terrace and will only commence stopping southbound on Rullion Road. Every bus stop in the Deanburn area is out of order until the works have passed.
The roadworks will be cleared in September.
