A seven year old school boy, Ruaraidh McKay, has died after sustaining injuries from a road traffic collision on Dick Terrace.
The tragedy occured around 4pm Tuesday and emergency services quickly rushed to the young boy’s aid. Unfortunately he later died from the injuries he sustained after being struck by a 4×4 type vehicle on Dick Terrace.
The road remained closed overnight whilst the Police could try to work out what had happened. It is thought that Ruaraidh had been crossing the road when the vehicle failed to slow in time to avoid him. The driver of vehicle is now aiding the Police in their investigation.
If you have any relevant information please contact the Police on the non-emergency number 101.
However we were informed that the council had been made aware by several home owners on the street that speed calming measures should be introduced however these were ridiculed. New calls are being made by these owners to make changes to the surrounding roads as soon as possible to prevent another tragic accident.
The public have expressed their condolencies to the family after this upsetting event. Our hearts go out to Ruaridh’s family.
