Olympic Torch Route Confirmed

It has been Confirmed that the Olympic Torch will pass through Penicuik on the 14th of June.

It will pass through Penicuik, along the A701 at approximately 10:45 am. It will come in through Milton Bridge then proceed along Edinburgh Road before going round Beeslack Community High School and then back out onto the A701. It will then continue along this road and down John Street and then onto Peebles Road.

There will be four torch bearers for Penicuik. They have been named as Joel Lightman (32), Lesley Glidden (58), Neil Allan (32) and Ricky Fenwick (51).

Beeslack Community High School have commented saying that they will celebrate the passing of the torch but an event has yet to be confirmed. Gina Clark a local politician has also said that an event should be planned for the wider community.
