Disruption to Bus Service Due to Resurfacing Works

Rullion Road part closure brings diversion into force

Lothian Buses are warning of changes to the 37 bus route due to resurfacing works on Rullion Road in Penicuik.

Mildothian Council have today, Monday 28 April, commenced resurfacing works on Rullion Road between numbers 299 and 350, prompting a temporary bus and car diversion to come into force.

The closure, which is part of Midlothian Council’s rolling resurfacing works on the busy road in the west of the town, will last for around five weeks and during this time, those of you using public transport, should be aware that your nearest bus stop may not be in service. Directions to the nearest operational stop are available at each current bus stop.

An approximate diversion route sees the service diverted along Cuiken Terrace, however we are not sure of the reliability of this and ask that you check your nearest bus stop for information.

Services 37, X37 and N37 will all follow this altered route. All other Lothian services in Penicuik will be unaffected by the roadworks.

Further resurfacing of Rullion Road will take place in the coming months: The road between 200 and 216 will be resurfaced between 23 June and 18 July. Additionally the section of road between Glencross Gardens and Ravendean Gardens will also be upgraded between 27 June and 1 August.

On the matter of roadworks, further disruption could be caused on the A701 due to further Scottish Power and BT roadworks in Bilston and Loanhead. Stay up to date on our Facebook page (/Penicuik.Cuckoo) or on Twitter (@Penicuik_Cuckoo.)
