Wind Prospects have submitted detailed planning permission for nine wind turbines.

The turbines which could provide enough power for over 10,000 homes across the region are due to be located on a site 1.2 miles south of Howgate on Mount Lothian.

In a partnership with EDF Energy Renewables, Wind Prospect Developments Ltd have undergone a 15 month consultation process with the local community that has led to the application being reduced from 12 to 9 102 metre high wind turbines. The location of the turbines was also altered to help battle strong objections relating to wildlife and environmental impacts.

A local activist group, Penicuik Enviroment Protection Association, has firmly objected to the construction of these turbines and have distributed objection leaflets throughout the town. >> More Here
