Public transport users prepare, with our free guide, as the festive bus timetables are about to come into force.
Lothian, First and Stagecoach buses will all operate on altered schedules from Christmas Eve until January 3, when normal service will resume.
Services on Christmas Eve will operate as per usual, however there will be early terminations on some routes. Night bus services will also not operate into Christmas morning.
No services will operate to or from Penicuik on Christmas Day and only the 37 and X62 will operate a reduced service on Boxing Day. If you’re hoping to attend the opening of the sales, you’ll be disappointed; the first bus to run is the 7:20am service 37 from Deanburn.
All routes then resume from the 27 December until 31 December, when services will again terminate early.
Lothian Buses will be running free night buses during the early hours of 1 January, to allow you to get home safely from Edinburgh City Centre. Buses will depart from Nicholson Square, starting at 00:20. Service 37 will then operate a special service from 09:42.
All routes will operate on 2 January, apart from Lothian service 40, which will resume on the third.
