Police Scotland say that the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in Beeslack Woods remain unexplained however they are not treating the incident as suspicious.
The body of a 47 year old female, named locally as Caroline Godfrey, was discovered in the afternoon of Thursday 10 July in an area of woodland behind Beeslack Community High School. Whilst forensic tests are ongoing to ascertain how Ms Godfrey died, Police have said that they are not treating the circumstances as suspicious.
Police Scotland commenced their investigation after a member of the public discovered the body in the Loon Burn, which passes through Ladywood and Beeslack Woods before joining the River North Esk. To conduct their investigation, officers cordoned off a large expanse of woodland from Auchendinny to Beeslack.
A Police Scotland spokesman said:
Following the recovery of a 47-year-old woman’s body in Penicuik on Thursday 10th July, enquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding her death and police are awaiting the results of a number of forensic tests.
However, there appear to be no suspicious circumstances relating to this incident.
