Wimpey “Making Good Progress” with Legal Agreements

The elusive housing developer delivering Greenlaw Mill, have sought to reassure the community that work is still ongoing behind the scenes.

Taylor Wimpey have told us that they are “making great progress” in relation to the signing of the section 75 legal agreement, which will formally grant permission and allow works to commence onsite.

As the anniversary of the granting of the application for 458 dwellings nears, work is yet to commence onsite after contractors secured the site last August. Since then the site has been left in a state of disrepair with skewed fencing and lakes forming after this month’s storms. However Pauline Mills, Land and Planning Director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has reiterated their commitment:

We’d like to reassure local residents that we remain fully committed to our development at Greenlaw Mill in Penicuik, and we are in discussion with Midlothian Council in order to agree our Section 75 obligations.

We are making good progress, and we appreciate the local community are keen to have an update and to see some activity on the site. However due to the complex nature of our discussions, we are still unable to confirm a fixed timetable of when the agreement will be concluded.

Discussions to sign the section 75 legal agreement have been ongoing since the permission was granted last February. The agreement itself will cover developer’s contributions to the new A702/Mauricewood Road roundabout along with education and local economy contributions. It will also set out the number of council owned properties which will feature in the development, which will likely be approximately 87 and will be located in the centre by the expanse ‘liner park’.

Now nearly a year after Wimpey celebrated their planning win, it is yet to be seen whether the development will materialise anytime soon with a March start date seeming more and more unlikely.
