Police Scotland are appealing for information after a father and his young daughter were subject to an indecent exposure near Cuiken in Penicuik.
The pair were walking in the woodland between Queensway and Cuiken Terrace when they were approached by a male who went on to ‘flash’ the unsuspecting walkers.
The incident occurred between 12:30pm and 12:50pm on Monday 2 September.
After revealing himself, the assailant, who is thought to be between 44 and 55 years old, made off into the area. The father later contacted the Police.
Detective Inspector Raymond Brown said:
Thankfully incidents like this are extremely rare and extra patrols are in the area.
Enquiries are ongoing to identify the male responsible and we ask that anyone who has information that can help trace him contacts police immediately.
Similarly, anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious in the area around Queensway and Cuiken Terrace on Monday afternoon is also asked to get in touch.
Further details of the suspect include his clothing. He was wearing a dark green waist-length Barbour-style jacket and dark black jeans. He is also described as being pale skinned with dirty grey straggly hair and of average height and chubby build. Overall he had an unkempt complexion.
