BT “Improves” Broadband Speed

Bt have spent the start of 2012 upgrading Penicuik’s slow internet.

Improvements have been made to underground cabling along the A701 overnight throughout January. On top of this, old and out dated telephone exchanges have been upgraded.

Bt have said that speeds should now have been increased to around 10mbps although this is a good 21mb lower than previously planned in the bt Infinity rollout. Penicuik has a slow speed due to the age of it’s underground cables and the lack of Fibre Optic Cabling. These upgrades could be preparing Penicuik’s infrastructure for new houses due to be developed north of Mauricewood.
